Palacio de la Tinta
Best for: couples who want to combine the beach with sightseeing and 5-star service, and single travellers looking for generous space and excellent onsite facilities.
In one of the most elegant Modernist buildings in town, Palacio de la Tinta is the newest addition to 5-star hotels in Malaga. It’s part of the Aurea collection in the Eurostars hotel chain. After opening in June 2025, it has quickly become one of the city’s most desirable places to stay.
Highlights at this hotel include: exquisite design, a long list of facilities, including a lovely rooftop terrace and two pools, and an excellent location. In addition, its room rates in 2026 are some of the best value in Malaga, making it an affordable splurge option.

Palacio de la Tinta started life in 1908 as the Andalusian Railway Company headquarters. Its architecture mirrors other Modernist buildings in the city, such as those on the Alameda Principal and the Hotel Gran Miramar, almost opposite.
Location
The hotel sits in the heart of La Malagueta area, an excellent choice if you want the beach and Port on your doorstep. Plus, you’re in easy walking distance to the old quarter. You’ll find La Malagueta beach, a couple of blocks south and the Port is a short walk away. Allow about 20 minutes to walk to Calle Larios; the route takes you through the pretty Paseo del Parque botanical gardens or under the waterfront Pergola.

You’ll find a good choice of restaurants on nearby Muelle Uno or within La Malagueta itself. The Pompidou Centre is on the doorstep. Read our guide to La Malagueta to get your bearings.
Rooms
This 5-star hotel is big – it houses 141 rooms in total – and offers a range of options. All rooms are generously sized. Decor is minimalist, but with nods to Picasso’s Cubism and French fin de siècle style. Think smart-chic, in neutral tones, with a splash of colour in the Cubist bedsteads.

Bathooms are also a good size and have striking marble features.

Palacio de la Tinta has the following room types:
Single– all too often rooms for just one person are an after-thought or you end up in a double and paying a supplement. Not so at this hotel, where the bespoke singles come with a whopping 18 m2.
Double deluxe – also generous on space (24m2), this room type is the standard for doubles, which you can upgrade to include a private terrace. Optional sofa-beds for an extra guest and cots for babies are available.
Junior suite – again, plenty of room in these, with 30m2 and separate living area.
Suite – treat yourselves to the best room option, with 75m2 all for you and private terrace.
