One of the best cultural events of the year, the Noche en Blanco in Malaga is just around the corner. Celebrating a long evening of dozens of free cultural events at over 100 venues), this is a must-do if you’re in Malaga.
SAVE THE DATE – Saturday 16 May 2026
On Saturday 16 May 2026, the whole city gets ready for a full evening of performances, installations, exhibitions, concerts and fun. This year’s theme is called ‘The Future is written in music’, so expect plenty of concerts, musical action and sound installations.
Action starts at 8pm and continues until 1am Best of all? Everything’s free.
There’s lots and lots on during the Noche en Blanco in Malaga, all based around the same theme. Read on to discover our highlights and for more information on planning your evening.

Where to find information
Every cultural venue, lots of tourism businesses and many individuals are organising events for the Noche en Blanco in Malaga. The list literally runs into the hundreds. The dedicated website (in Spanish only) lists all events (in Spanish only) here.
Top tip – you need to sign up for some activities in advance usually by email. Most will be oversubscribed so send your email pronto!
If you’re looking for information at the time, there will be a Noche en Blanco office on Calle Larios. Open on Friday 15 May noon till 2pm and 8 to 10pm, and Saturday 16 May noon till 2pm and 6pm to midnight. All Malaga tourist offices have information and programmes.
What’s on during the Noche en blanco?
Deciding what to see and do in Malaga for this special event comes as a bit of a challenge when you’re literally spoilt for choice, but to give you some ideas, we’ve highlighted the following:
Open-air concerts
Several locations in the city centre host these, such as Calle Alcazabilla, Plaza de la Constitución and Plaza de la Merced. The Noche en blanco caters for all genres – jazz, flamenco, gospel and pop – and performers range from solo singers or pianists to entire choirs or orchestras.

Installations
Expect to see creative interventions, temporary installations (Calle Larios gets the whole works), lit-up facades and projections onto facades. Stroll around the city centre and feast your eyes on all the creativity!

Open doors at museums (and until midnight)
Most museums in Malaga have free entry to their exhibitions and often offer themed events too. They also stay open until midnight (last entry is usually at 11.30pm).

Unusual things to see
The evening also includes activities that you won’t see at any other time of the year. They include open doors at monuments usually closed to the public and off-one events.

Open doors at the Navy HQ (Paseo de la Farola), with exhibitions and a soundtrack of military music.
Concerts on the buses – hear singers on the No3, No7 and No11 buses between 8 and 10pm.

A long list of streets, squares, museum spaces, shopping centres, hotels and monuments will host the events during the Noche en blanco in Malaga in 2026.
Calle Larios
The street is usually the main focus for installations and this year is no exception. This year, Calle Larios will come alive with musical inspiration. The photo below shows what the installation looked like in 2023.
Plaza de la Marina
This square is another focal point for events this year:
- Music – choirs and pianists perform all evening.
- Tourist bus – tours around the city cost €3, last an hour and leave every 20 minutes.
Muelle Uno
Stroll by the sea and discover the following magical events:
Derive, a giant audiovisual installation combining light, sound and movement , celebrating music.

Malaga Museums
All the museums open until midnight and offer free entry. This is your chance to see that exhibition – temporary or permanent – and there’s something very special about a night time visit. Extra highlights at the museums include:
- The chance to visit an installation at the Pompidou Centre.
- The magic of pixels at the OXO Videogame Museum (sign up in advance to this one).
Music and dance in Malaga
You’ll see musicians and dancers on many corners and stumble on concerts throughout the city. We like the sound of these:
Plaza del Obispo – a full musical programme for almost the whole evening.
Patio de las Cadenas (entrance to the Cathedral on Calle CÃster) – piano recitals from 10pm.
Plaza de la Merced – numerous recitals such as gospel and classical choir plus piano performances during the evening.
Eduardo Ocón Auditorium (on the Paseo del Parque) – Rockschool Malaga and Indie Rock from 8pm to midnight.
Carnival in Malaga
Yes, carnival is back, albeit for one night only. If you missed the fun of the murgas and chirigotas in February, this is your chance to enjoy it. The best groups from this year will perform at the Cervantes Theatre from 8pm to 12.30am.
Malaga Monuments
Night tours of the Alcazaba – one of our favourites because it’s atmospheric and romantic!. Tours (in Spanish) take 50 minutes and leave every 15 minutes between 8pm and midnight. There’s also a tour in English at 8.15pm.
This year, there’s live guitar music during visits – extra atmospheric!
To be sure it’s fully dark when you visit, choose a tour after 10pm. Tickets are available online, with different links depending on the time you choose for your visit. The links are available in the programme.
English Cemetery – another magical spot has dramatised visits at 8.30pm, 9.30pm and 11pm. Sign up via the links in the programme.

What about kids?
There are also plenty of activities for children, included in the Nochecita en blanco programme (the pink section). They include workshops, storytelling sessions, theatre and games.

Our dos for the Noche en Blanco in Malaga
Do be prepared for crowds – Malaga takes to the streets for this event so the city centre will be packed. Venues out of the city centre such as the Russian Museum and Muelle Uno tend to be quieter.
Do choose your programme in advance – everyone wants to go to everything so if you can, sign up in advance or be very specific about what you want to see.
Do take your kids – this is family-friendly event and there are lots of children’s activities. Click on ‘Nochecita en Blanco’ on the website (scroll down a bit to find it) to find out what’s on.
Do book a table – if you’re planning to eat out at one of the restaurants in Malaga during the evening, book your table now. If you want a reasonably quiet table but in the heart of the action, try these restaurants in the city centre:
- Araboka Centro (traditional dining with a modern touch)
- El Mentidero (local fare and the only grilled sardines in town)
- Unico (fine Italian dining)
- Vino Mio (Andalusian-Peruvian fusion)
Do enjoy yourself – even if you can’t get into a specific venue, there’s lots going on in the streets and squares.
Do keep an eye on your stuff – this is a safe event in Malaga but keep your valuables close and watch your children don’t get lost in the crowds.
