Best places to buy vintage in Malaga

Malaga ranks among the best cities in Spain for vintage shopping. The old town is dotted with second-hand shops, monthly retro markets and charity stores where the stock turns over fast and the prices are a long way from what you’d pay on the high street. Whether you’re after a one-off piece of clothing, a vinyl record or something for the house, the chances of finding it here are better than you might expect.
This guide covers the best places to look – from a warehouse-sized shop off Calle Larios to a late-evening Friday market that doubles as a night out.

Apart from La Térmica Cultural Centre, all the venues mentioned in this article are in the old quarter or a short walk from it. The map below shows you the exact locations.
Vintage markets in Malaga
Markets are often the best place to buy vintage pieces and Malaga has several monthly markets that include vintage stalls:
Muelle Uno
This weekly market, held on Muelle Uno (the main shopping area in Malaga Port), focuses mainly on arts and crafts. But in amongst the hand-made items, some of the stalls sell second-hand clothes and household items from the past. Prices are generally reasonable and if you buy several items, ask for a discount.
Our verdict
A pleasant browse rather than a serious vintage hunt – the arts and crafts stalls outnumber those selling second-hand items. Worth a look if you’re already at the port, but don’t make a special trip for the vintage alone.
📍 Muelle Uno

Red Friday
Something of a vintage paradise, this monthly market (first Friday evening of the month, several times a year) specialises in retro items and is the place to head for if you’re looking for a particular piece or after an unusual item. Several stalls sell clothes and accessories such as bags and jewellery, while others specialise in classic items like vinyl’s, telephones and even Playmobile figures.
The market also includes live entertainment (music, dance and DJ sets) and you can buy food and drink from the food trucks. While you’re there, check out the photography and art exhibitions (usually at the far end on the right of the building).
The event is ticketed (the cost is usually €3), with tickets available a few days before the event on La Térmica website.
Our verdict
The best vintage event in Málaga by some distance. The combination of good stalls, live music and a genuinely atmospheric venue makes it worth planning your trip around if the dates line up – check before you go as it doesn’t run every month.

Get to La Térmica on the No 7 bus from the Alameda Principal or walk there along the western seafront promenade.
Vintage shopping by the kilo
Flamingos Vintage Kilo
This store brings a different take to vintage shops in Malaga because here you don’t buy by the item but by the kilo. The clothes come from the US so there’s a definite American vibe to the pieces here and prices range from €13 to €39 a kilo, depending on the quality.
Our verdict
The kilo system is more fun than it sounds — there’s something satisfying about filling a basket and watching the price come in well under what you expected. The American-influenced stock means lots of denim, college wear and oversized shirts. Go with time to dig.

Joan by Fundación Cudeca
This Cudeca (cancer hospice charity) shop also sells its second-hand clothes by the kilo, and the stock is a mixture of OK items and some good pieces. It can take a while to sift through – and the pile sometimes looks a bit daunting.
If you’re worried about overspending ask the staff to weigh your purchases as you go along.
Our verdict
The charity angle makes this one feel good to shop in as well as good value. And as with all charity shops, you just never know what might be on the next hanger!

Second hand vintage shops in Malaga
Atipico Vintage
Vintage only goes back to 1980 at this store, but as those of us who were teenagers then know, that was a vintage decade! Items are imported from the US, so expect an American fashion vibe and familiar US brand names. Jeans and casual wear are the watchword here.
The shop assistants go an extra mile to help – we’ve even heard them giving local tips to tourists – so ask if you’re looking for something in particular.
Our verdict
The staff alone are worth the visit – genuinely helpful in a way that’s increasingly rare in any shop, vintage or otherwise. And the jeans are worth a good look.

Época Segunda Mano
There are several vintage shops in Malaga specialising in second hand goods, but we like this one because it’s a tiny but packs in the vintage surprises. This is the place to head for if you’re looking for an outfit for a special occasion or a particular vintage accessory. All the clothes are second hand, but good quality. Stock changes frequently so pop in often to see what’s new.
And while you’re in vintage mode, pop a few doors down to Códice, selling second hand books, comics and CDs.
Our verdict
Our favourite of the dedicated shops. Small, carefully curated and with a noticeably higher quality of stock than the larger warehouse-style stores. If you’re after one specific piece rather than a general browse, start here.

Joan by Cudeca vintage
This Cudeca charity shops specialises in truly vintage pieces, those carrying designer labels or unique items. As a result, the shop is smaller, but more select and this store is the one to go to for something special. We found an Armani trouser suit in here for €40. It also stocks vinyls, handbags and shoes.
Our verdict
Easily the most curated shop on this list – fewer rails, but far more interesting ones. Set aside proper time for this one.

Mosaico Vintage
On one of the side streets between Calle Larios and Calle Nueva, this Malaga vintage shop is large – more like a warehouse – with the racks literally groaning with second-hand clothes. Quality varies, with brands ranging from low-cost high street labels to high fashion names.
Make your way to this shop in the morning as it’s closed in the afternoons.
Our verdict
The sheer volume of stock means you need patience, but the rewards are there if you’re willing to look. Best for building a full outfit on a budget rather than hunting for a single standout piece.

Peninsula
Tucked behind the Carmen Thyssen Museum, this vintage shop combines second-hand clothes with sustainability. The fashion vibe is 70s, 80s and 90s, and new items for men and women arrive every week.
Our verdict
The most considered of the lot – this feels like a small independent boutique that happens to sell second-hand. The 70s and 80s pieces are well selected and the sustainability focus gives it a different character from the others. Slightly higher prices reflect that.

Charity vintage shops in Malaga
Charity shops are often treasure troves for finding great vintage items with the added bonus that you’re helping a good cause at the same time. The cancer hospice charity Cudeca runs two shops in Malaga where you’ll find a selection of second hand clothes, household items and books.
Prices are rock bottom – clothing starts at €3 a piece and books at €1 – and you never know what you’ll find. That said, look through the racks carefully because the gems are sometimes not easy to see at first glance.
Our verdict
Don’t underestimate these. The stock is entirely unpredictable – which is part of the appeal – and from €3 a piece for clothing you can afford to take a chance on something. The Puerta Nueva branch is the more central of the two and worth a quick look even if you’re just passing.
