Mimo Healthy vegan restaurant

Not many restaurants in Malaga tick the vegan, organic and gluten-free boxes, but Mimo Healthy does just that. This dining venue in Soho not only takes plant dishes to the next level but offers a tasty, delicious experience. The result? Food that pleases everyone, from diehard vegans to flexitarians.

What’s on the menu at Mimo Healthy?

First a word about the menu style. Mimo Healthy’s is hosted on a website with videos showing you how the dishes are prepared and presented. This video-guide allows you to understand the concept and ingredients in every dish, vital if you’re not fully au fait with vegan dining.

Next, a word about the ingredients. As well as plant-based, organic and gluten-free, they’re seasonal and local (ticking the sustainability and 0km boxes too). As a result, the menu changes to suit what’s available depending on the season.

Starters

Choose from four entrées, headed by Nigiri sushi – so well executed you wouldn’t know there’s no actual fish in it – and Papas del bosque. In this dish, baked potatoes get a creamy cashew sauce and come topped with crispy mushrooms and peanuts.

You can also order a basket of house bread, all made with sourdough and are gluten free.

Mains

Next-level creativity continues with the main courses, where you’ll find a variety of rice and ‘pasta’ dishes plus one of the best non-meat burgers in Malaga.

Favourites among regular diners are:

Onigirazu Sandwich

A fun take on sushi streetfood, where teriyaki jackfruit and spicy mayo provide the bite to the rice, shiitake and avocado.

Mimo Rice

A creamy risotto-type dish, with two types of mushroom and leek (the saffron cream adds extra special flavour).

MiMonesca Spaghetti

The combo of kalamata olives and capers add depth to this classic dish, served with brown-rice.

Mr Beet burger

As you might expect from the name, this vegan burger in Malaga takes beetroot as its base, along with lentils.

All dishes arrive beautifully presented and burst with flavours.

Desserts

The dessert menu is colourful and delicious, proving that you can create good dairy-free cakes. The house cheesecake is as creamy as can be, and chocolate fans will love the chocoberry dessert.

What’s in your glass at Mimo Healthy?

If you’re going non-alcoholic, there’s an excellent choice of kombuchas (€5.50). The restaurant also makes a delicious lemonade, sugar-free and with a great zing of lemon. Fresh orange juice is available, and, unusually for Malaga, grapefruit juice.

Cocktails

Mimo Healthy has an impressive cocktail list, where you’ll find classics such as Aperol Spritz and Espresso Martini, as well as more unusual mixes like Jardín Andaluz and Dark ‘n’ Stormy. For those going alcohol-free, there’s a good choice of mocktails.

Beer and wine

Craft beer labels top the menu and include the local La Axarca (also gluten-free), excellent value at €4. The wine list is short, but sweet, with just a few in each category.

Prices at Mimo Healthy

Starters range from €5 to €9, while mains cost from €15 to €19. Desserts are €5 to €8. As a result, two people can enjoy a three-course meal at Mimo Healthy for around €30 a head plus drinks.

Diners in Google reviews highlight the value of money at this vegan restaurant because of the quality and taste of the food.

Location and ambience

The vegan restaurant is bright and airy inside, with decor reflecting the natural side to the cuisine. Plant motifs decorate the walls and the furniture comes in raffia and wood. Warm lighting adds to the welcome.

Mimo Healthy sits on a busy road, but the outside terrace is pleasantly shady – don’t miss the jacaranda trees in bloom in spring!
